How is my $30 used?
Christian Education, a uniform, School books, teacher salaries, and medical aid
Is the $30 given directly to the child and their family?
No, the $30 is placed into the child sponsorship program. It is then used to meet the needs of the children’s Christian education program, medical aid, school books, and uniforms.
What if I want to sponsor more than one child?
Great! We encouraged you to sponsor as many children as you would like. There are thousands of children waiting for a sponsor of their own.
How often will I hear from my child?
Each year it is our goal to at least send two forms of communication from your child: their progress report and a Christmas card. We encourage you to write your child a letter with Scripture, encouragement, picture, and questions so that your child can know that you are investing in them spiritually. Any written message will be translated, and a missionary will visit their school to deliver your correspondence and give your child the opportunity to respond to you. Because of the coordination required for the visit and the mailing process between Haiti and the United States, it may take up to 4 months to hear back from your child. However, we do our best to make this happen as quickly as possible.
*Please note: Cards sent for special occasions do not receive a response from the child, but they are enjoyed!
How will my child understand my letters? I do not speak French or Haitian Creole.
Upon receiving letters from child sponsors, sponsorship staff work to translate the letter for the child. The original letter, as well as the translation are given to the child. If the child is able, they will write a response. The sponsorship staff will translate and then send the child’s response along with the translation to the sponsor.
Can I send gifts to my child’s family as well?
Sponsors are encouraged to invest in their child and their family. After learning about the family, small gifts can be sent for family members if the sponsor chooses.
